Writing Gig Lead – Textbroker UK Launches

Written By: Dana Prince - Dec• 01•11

I received an email last night from Textbroker, who announced their new UK site. English writers outside the USA can now apply to write for Textbroker who pays once monthly and offers what looks like a wide variety of content mill work paying in Euros via PayPal once a month. I’ve provided a bit more information at The Work at Home Blog – Textbroker UK.

Or, sign up here: http://www.textbroker.co.uk.

Some writers stay away from content mills but others like to have a content mill or two on standby for gap-filling work. Your call, of course.  My initial sample (unpaid but I keep the rights and it only had to be 120 words) got a 4-star rating, which equates to 6 euros (about: $8.25 Canadian as of today) so not something I, personally, will be rushing to do (typical word count per article is 500-words) but in a pinch, fast writers can probably write about 3 of these types of articles per hour and if you are able to get up to 5-star rating,  20 euros is about $27.50 CAD by today’s exchange rate.) They also appear to offer writers the ability to create a profile and set their own pricing, which I might dabble with.

If you’ve dealt with Textbroker, feel free to share your opinion / experience.

MY worry is that too many people will join textbroker UK as is the case with TB USA. Us writers below level 4 are way too many and the work just not sufficient for us all. What a pity….

Hi Jason, I hear you. I think the recent changes at Demand Studios have left a lot of US writers who earned most of their income from that one source scrambling. It’s more important than ever to make sure all your income eggs aren’t in one basket.

    Dana,

For one, I think text broker(US) doesn’t allow anyone from outside the U.S [ I think they allow Canadians?]. Now, Textbroker UK will stick to its territory and still now allow anyone from outside of UK.

Ehow, I remember, allows you to write on their site but not PAY you if you are from elsewhere other than the U.S.

Nutshell, I never bothered with the content mills. But you do have a point, especially if 120 words is all it takes :) Hell, geographic location is now the problem. even if I wanted to give it a try.

My options are limited to Squidoo, Bukisa, and Hub pages, if ever.

    Hi Ashwin,
Content mills aren’t the way I go. I’ve got memberships with a few that allow Canadians but never seem to find the rates high enough to be worth my while. I do know that some writers like them for gap filling work and they can be great for newbies (if you’re in one of the “allowed” countries) so I like to share these leads as they come up.

    Cheers,
    Dana
